"Hi, this is Laura Turner and today, I'm going to talk with you about how to teach kids the meaning of Christmas. Of course, we all know Santa. Santa is the guy who brings kids gifts on Christmas. Is this the true meaning of Christmas? One good thing you can do is actually show the Charlie Brown Christmas to your kids. The Charlie Brown Christmas is going to sort of expose Christmas for what it is and tell your kids that it's not all about the gifts, and the Charlie Brown Christmas will actually help open them up so that you can insert your own view of what Christmas really is into them. So, if you want to really give them the true meaning of Christmas which is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, you're going to want to actually first take your kids to church. You're going to want to; you could even enroll them in a Christmas pageant. It could help them to sort of figure out, you know, what's going on with their world. But, of course, we want to also focus on, you know, the meaning of the gifts and what Santa means. So, if you want to, you can actually take your kids out to volunteer in the community so that can give gifts back to the community, and therefore, feel the giving Spirit of Christmas so that Christmas doesn't become all about getting gifts but also about giving gifts, and that's something that, you know, Jesus is sort of famous for; is His kindness, right and His giving nature. So, you can sort of mold your kids in the spirit of giving rather than just giving things to them. Also, you can participate in caroling which is a good way for the kids to learn all the stories that go along with Christmas, you know, The Three Wise Men and carols like that that are more closely related to hymns. So, you can actually take them around town and have them memorize these carols which will instill in them at least some of the language of Christmas and some of the feelings of what actually, what they're celebrating as opposed to just talking about Santa. So, those are some things that you can do to teach your kids about the meaning of Christmas."
