"Someone owes you money and you want to collect it. Hi, I'm Robert Todd, and I'm here to answer the question, how do I write a demand letter? Well, first of all, it's very smart to write a demand letter before you go out and file legal action, or you hire an attorney, to pursue a collection for you. The first thing you want to do is, of course, direct your demand letter to the individual or entity who owes you the money. You want to be sure and specify exactly what events transpired that brought about this individual or entity owing you money. You want to do the dates in chronological order so that individual or entity can follow exactly what occurred leading up to the money being owed. You want to identify how you calculated the damages or expenses that you're seeking collection for. And, you want to give some kind of deadline for this individual or entity within which time to respond, because it will put some pressure on them to respond to the demand. Once that's done, you want to make sure that it is addressed to the party or entity that needs to be addressed to, and then send it out. Good luck collecting. I'm Robert Todd and thank you for watching."
