Video Transcript

"Hi, I'm Patti German and I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist here in New York City. In this clip we are going to talk about how to tell the difference between love and lust. There is a very big difference lust and love. When two people love each other they talk to each other, they share their feelings. With lust it's not about that it's only about an act and it's not about communicating and being close and really talking from your hearts. Love is about talking. Lust is about just perhaps a sexual act or just an immediate satisfaction or gratification but, learning to love your partner is about sharing deeper feelings and thoughts and talking and constantly trying to communicate and understand what's underneath the feelings. Is it feelings of inadequacy, is it feelings of shame, is it feelings of importance, is it grandiosity, is it narcissism. So if to love a partner is to really understand the full person. This is Patti German in New York City."
