"Hi I'm Patti German and I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist here in New York City. In this clip we are going to talk about how marriage counseling works. When two people come into a marriage counselor the most important thing is to offer as much information as you can about 1) what you see the problem as. Then it is up to the therapist at that point to try to understand the roots of the problem. Each person comes to the relationship with their own set of dynamics from their family of origin and a couples and marriage and family therapist knows how to siphon through the information to understand the patterns, the legacies and the secrets that get passed down through the generations that are in the way of a relationship really functioning very well so again it is about bringing as much information as you can and trying to understand what the problem in your relationship is. Again this is Patti German in New York City."
