"Hi, I'm Patti German, and I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, here in New York City. In this clip, we're going to talk about how to identify a victim of child abuse. Well, it's very difficult to identify an adult who's been abused as a child, because the signs are not physical signs. They're more of emotional signs, and most of the time, a child who has been abused, has problems in a relationship, in staying close, in staying attached, and that's something that will be unfolded and uncovered, as the relationship advances, and there are many types of child abuse, from sexual abuse, to physical abuse, to neglect, to not having protection and a safe home, but in young children, or in children, you can tell signs. There are physical signs many times, that can show that a child has been abused, by black and blue marks on the arms, scratches, physical sores, things like this, in a child, and that's one way to be able to tell that there's physical abuse, currently going on, but it's hard to identify a person who has been physically abused, or has suffered from child abuse, in the past. This is Patti German, in New York City."
