"Hi, my name is Stacie Royer and I'm a career specialist from Austin, Texas. I'm going to talk to you today about becoming a defense lawyer. This type of position is very intensive but it can also be very rewarding. You'll want to start out with obtaining your four year degree from an accredited university. From that point you'll take your LSATs and apply for law school. Once you get into law school then you'll want to start entering at different places such as a law firm that specializes in criminal defense. This will give you the experience that you need to pursue this type of career. Once you graduate law school you'll probably want to start out with obtaining more experience as a public defender. From that point you can move on to becoming an actual criminal defense attorney. That is how you become a defense attorney."
