Video Transcript

"Hi, my name is Stacie Royer and I'm a Career Specialist from Austin, Texas. I'm going to talk to you today about becoming an EMT. The first thing that you'll need to do is take as many Biology, Chemistry, Health and Driver's Education courses as you can. You can do this while you're in high school, or even post high school. Then you'll need to enroll into a post secondary school such as a junior college, or a career college, or just an EMT training program to obtain the necessary diploma or degrees that your state requires for this type of position. You'll also need to pass the EMT state exams, that your state requires you to take. Once you've taken that, then there's going to be an additional course worth that you'll need to take and keep up with along the way. You'll also want to make sure that you obtain a CPR certification and that your driver's license is current, and this is a lot of fun and it can be rewarding so, go out there and get it."
