"Hi, my name is Stacie Royer, and I'm a Career Specialist in Austin, Texas. I'm going to talk to you today about becoming a Veterinarian Assistant. The first thing that you'll need to know about yourself is that you have a love and passion for animals. You're going to be dealing with a lot of different animals that are either scared, very injured, or can also be aggressive. And, you'll need to know that you have a comfort level for all of that and you don't show fear to the animals. Next thing that you'll need to obtain is your high school diploma. If and once you have that, you'll need to attend a post-secondary school such as a junior college or a career college to obtain a diploma, or two year degree in Veterinary Assisting, or Veterinary Technology. Once you do that, then you can receive your certification and start working for a clinic. This type of career is very fun and rewarding and you can fulfill that passion that you have for animals."
