"Hi, my name is Stacie Royer and I'm a Career Specialist from Austin, Texas. I'm going to talk to you today about becoming a Phlebotomist. The first thing that you'll need to do is obtain your high school diploma. From that point, you'll need to visit the American Medical Technologist website to find out what the industry standards are for your local area in terms of job description. Most likely what you'll need to do is find a diploma college or a two year degree college to obtain those types of certifications. I know here in Austin we have a college where you can receive your Medical Assisting diploma and become a Phlebotomist from that point. Once you receive your diploma or degree, you can fulfill the necessary clinical hours that your program requires or even your state. You'll want to check out your state requirements as well. From that point, have fun and start your career as a Phlebotomist."
