"Hi, this is Laura Turner, and today we're going to talk about how to write a science fiction novel. First of all when you're writing a science fiction novel know that science fiction is based off of reality, so think about what you want to write and know your stuff when it comes to what is possible in the world that we live in, and then therefore what can be possible in your futuristic or science fiction world. Science fiction and fantasy are often used to comment on the present, as in George Orwell's novel "1984". The nightmarish vision, it says on the back, in 1949 of the world we were becoming. So it's sort of a futuristic look at the real world, so think about that. Also choose heroes who will go against the grain of this futuristic world, especially, of course, if it is a bleak future that you're looking at, those who fight corruption, those who are the spirit of the enduring human being. And finally science fiction is sort of comparing our world to other worlds as well, science fiction can sort of branch out into the possibility that there are other worlds that we can visit. So think about what those worlds are going to say about our world in comparison to how they function and how we function, and in that case you could have lots of fun running around and figuring out what other worlds are going to be like in your science fiction. And those are just a few things to think about when you're writing a science fiction novel."
