"Hi, this is Laura Turner and today I'm going to talk to you about how to organize your classroom. If you're a college professor you might not have much say as to what goes into your classroom because other people will be using it. But if you are an elementary teacher, middle school teacher or a high school teacher you're going to have that room as your room and your going to be able to organize it how you would like so today I'm going to focus on something like that. First of all make sure that you take your desk and you put it in a place that you want it to be. If you want it to be in the center of the room, go for that, but I would advise to actually take the desk and put it off to the side so you can have your own little space. Your desk can actually be the place where you can go when you sit down to give tests, stuff like that. You can actually leave the board space open and the desk won't be the focal point of the room. Next, make sure you have all your supplies in or on you desk. You can put them in a little deal like this. Or of course, if you have a desk with drawers, you can put them in the drawers. Just make sure that your students, especially if their children, can not get readily to your supplies, or they are marked in a place that is off limits to them. This is the teachers basket. Next make sure that the students have a file cabinet where they can go in and get supplies so that you don't have to take your own supplies and give them to them. Make sure the kids can actually get their stuff themselves. Next, make sure there is locker space for food and for book storage so that you don't have lots of food lying around all over the classroom. You want to make sure that there is some space in the classroom either already made there hopefully, or something that you will make yourself so the students can put their stuff away. Next, make sure that you can move the desks around as you need to. If your going to be teaching a small class, you might actually want to have the desks in a circle so everybody can see each other and everybody can talk to each other. See that you can do that. This is also going to help you prepare your classes when you go in to look at your classroom and see what you can do with the space. Finally, make sure that you keep white boards and cork boards for announcements and for project details so that you can have your own space for this classrooms projects and this classrooms relevant extra curricular things that they can go to. Those are just some tips on how to organize your classroom."
