"Hi, this is Laura Turner, and today I'm going to talk to you about how to stand out on a large campus. On a large campus it may feel sometimes as if people are just coming and going from school, and you don't know who they are, and no one know who you are. But what you can do is you can actually really try to become involved in your campuses community so that people who are involved in that campus, who don't just you know come to and from school and commute, like so many people do on large campuses, so those people will know who you are. And so then therefore you will become a part of that community. So couple pieces of advice. First, be active in the community. Be present at all the big campus events, you know the football games, the fundraisers. Also, you can also join a Greek organization, will help you get involved in your community and to be a leader. Next, be a great student. Stand out among your professors. Your professors will talk about you to other professors, you know such and so is such a great student, he or she really is really active in this school and really is trying to make something different, and is making you know really wonderful grades to boot, we should you know we should do something nice for them. And they will know you whenever you go in to a new class. Next, you can be involved in student government. This is a great way to get exposure to a large number of people if your face and your likeness is being presented as the one who's running for a certain office in student government. And finally, get a job on campus, or sort of get something where you can stay on campus more than you would if you just normally went to class there. So you can get more exposure to more students and a lot of your free time is going to go to that job, so get a job at the bookstore, the library, you know a restaurant, whatever is the place to go on your campus, and try to really sort of immerse yourself in the campus. And even if you know you're not completely popular with everybody, because you're not going to be able to know forty thousand people at once, you will know more people than most on a large campus that most of them feel you know sort of disconnected from each other. So good luck with standing out on your large campus."
