"Hello, my name is Luis Estrada and I'm a software developer. In this video I'll show you what streaming music is. There are a few ways you can listen to music on the web. One way is to click on a MP3 file link like this one. The file will be downloaded to my computer and then I can listen to it using a media player. Another way is to use a streaming audio player that is embedded inside a web page. In this web page, I can click on the play button and a music track begins. There's no need to download the file to my computer. Also, I can listen to the files starting at any point. The downside is that I don't have the possibly of downloading the file to my computer. I have to be connected to the Internet very time that I want to listen to the track. If you are creating a multimedia website, you want to add streaming music to it, you can choose between the hard and the easy way. The hard way means that you'll need to install a streaming program to your web server and create a music player that can play back the music sent by the streaming application. This could be both complicated and expensive. The easy way is to subscribe to a service that provides hosting and streaming for your music or audio files. Six service should provide you with a music player that you will be able to include in your website with just a couple of lines of code. But don't worry; you don't have to code it yourself. All you have to do is paste this code in your web page. This service will allow your users to include your audio and other websites around the web too that way you will reach even bigger audience. Streaming music is different from podcasting. In that streaming, it's meant to be played on web page while podcasting is meant to be played in a device that does not need to be connected to the Internet for example, an IPod or a MP3 player or even your computer. Many websites use the term podcasting to refer to music streaming too. In fact, many audio files that are available in streaming audio offer the possibly of downloading them to our computers or portable audio players making the a podcast. In my next video, I'll show you how to include both streaming music and podcast to your website. I'm Luis Estrada and I just showed you how to create a multimedia website using FrontPage."
