Video Transcript

"Hello, my name is Luis Estrada and I am a software developer. In this video I'll show you how to add key words to a web page with FrontPage. FrontPage is a registered trade mark of Microsoft, a company to which I no affiliation. Make sure that you are in the design mode. Right click on nip the page and select page properties. In the keywords field type as many word as you need leaving a coma between them. Then press o.k.If you change to code mode you will see that FrontPage added mata tag with the keywords name and a content with your entered words. The meta tag provides information about your page such as descriptions and keywords for search engines like Google or Yahoo. The keywords meta tag was created so that search engines would read this information and classify a web page based on these words. However, many web developers started abusing this tag writing keywords that would not match the content inside the page. For example, some developers would write the word FrontPage as a keyword to fool a search engine in to believing that the web page provides information about that application. When in reality it could provide information about a competing software program. So, when someone looked for the word FrontPage in that search engine, it would reach the competition instead. This is why today most search engines classify pages based on actual text inside the page rather than by looking at the keywords meta tag. Still, it's important to provide these words because there are some search engines that still use the meta tag as the main way of categorizing web pages. I'm Luis Estrada and I've just showed you how to create a multimedia website using FrontPage."
