"Hi. I'm Laura from youngwritersworkshops.com and I'm going to talk about how to write your life story. Now, of course, this is subjective on different people approach a writing project in different ways, but I can give you some suggestions about a great way to approach an autobiographical project. Start by contemplating what are some of the big events that were meaningful in your life. A journal or just taking some notes, really reflecting and trying to pull out some important times in your life is a great start. Now if you think on these things and give it a chance to kind of settle in, you may find some connections between events in your life helped to create more of a pattern or a picture that you can use to tell your story. So begin with that. Make an outline where you have some core points that are the most important and that you can start to build the story on. When you have a draft, it's really helpful to have someone else read it. Especially when you're writing about yourself, which can be a really hard thing to be objective about. It's really helpful to have a reader help you kind of cut out some of the things that aren't quite as interesting as you might have thought, or bring a little bit more in where you've left some detail out. Keep continue to work in this way, writing drafts and having someone read them, give you feedback and you'll come to a first, a complete first draft that you can take to a publisher. So those are some ideas about how to write your life story."
