"Hi I'm Laura from young writers workshops dot com. And I'm going to talk about how to write a research grant. Your first step in writing a research grant which is a fairly large project is determining the feasibility of this grant. It's really important to make sure that you are not just going to be wasting some time since it is such a big undertaking. And in the research community you don't want to use someone's time by writing a grant that isn't appropriate for you to write so. Step one is really to take a look at the possibility, is this really a feasible grant and is it, does it have a chance at being funded. Your next step is to do the actual work of pulling together the research and doing the writing and that can be a chunk of time from three to six months. So block that out, really devote that time, make sure that you are able to commit the time to get this research grant finished. In your proposal you are going to include detail about the significance of your project. Any ways that you can give, use statistics, use information to demonstrate how significant this project is will make your proposals stronger. You also want to include some details about your own ability to accomplish this project. Anything, recommendations or commendations that you've had from other projects that can demonstrate your skill and your expertise will make your proposal stronger. You also want to include available data that's already been gathered towards this research project so that you can demonstrate sort of what's already been accomplished and what's left to be accomplished with your grant. If you want to proof read and use the best possible technical skills in writing your research proposal because it's going to demonstrate your ability to do a good job, a thorough job, a professional job. Be sure to have a lot of reviewers read your work over and make revisions to make it the strongest possible proposal. Those are some ideas about how to write a research proposal."
