"Hi. I'm Laura from youngwritersworkshops.com. I'm going to talk about how to teach paragraph writing. The best way to teach paragraph writing is to start with the definition of a paragraph, which is a topic sentence and some ideas and then a concluding sentence. You can start by writing a paragraph with your class, demonstrate choosing a topic, then writing your topic sentence or thesis sentence, which is the main idea of the paragraph, and then some details and a concluding sentence. Now you want to demonstrate clustering or another top when you're explaining the idea of getting ideas for your paragraph. Some sort of visual tool to write, gather the ideas together and then use that as the starting point for your paragraph that you're going to write together. Now, you can take this the next step to have your students work with a peer, each of them writing their own paragraph in this way, and then reading it to their peer, getting some feedback and making some revision, writing another draft. So to sum up, the way to teach writing paragraphs is to define it, to help students brainstorm some ideas and then to put it in the format of topic, details and conclusion."
