"Hi, my name is Pat Goodwin, with patgoodwinassociates.com, and today, we're going to talk abut how to write a resume creatively. When you think about a resume what does that include? It's going to have to start with your name, and your address, and your phone number, your cell number, your e-mail address. If you are wanting to look confidentially, or you are worried about security I would encourage you not to put your address; just put your name, your cell number, and your e-mail. A creative resume would include what your accomplishments are, what your special projects have been, what your work experience has been. So, let's just review the format of a resume. Then we can wind up about what are some of the words that you can use on a creative resume? The format of the resume is typically a chronological resume. That would include as I said correct spelling of your name, your contact information. Right underneath your name and your contact information you might want to have either an objective, or a summary, or both. An objective is a word that is spelled all caps and bold, typically center spaced, and it would include a statement about what is it that you're looking for in your job; highly motivated, or highly effective engineer seeking a position in the area of, so an objective is pinpointed into what it is that you're looking for. The word summary would be all caps and bold and centered under the objective if you decide to have an objective. Those are three or four sentences, maybe two or three sentences that describe who you are. When you begin to look at a company, and you then interview, people who review your resume want to know what you've done, when you've done it, and where, but when they meet you they want to know how you think, so building a creative resume is important for you to to portray in that resume how you think creatively, what your accomplishments are, and how you have demonstrated that in your work experience. A summary would be descriptive of how you, how you are, who you are as a person, and it might have some words, action verbs about being highly effective or responsible. Then underneath that, you might make a decision to have a section called core competencies. When you have core competencies, again, you can be creative in demonstrating who you are, and those core competencies would be bulleted three, six, nine; words like problem solver, strategic thinking, creative writer. Words that describe who you are as a person. Then right under that are your professional experience, and you would put most recent experience first, going down with the name of the company, your job description based on accomplishments, and then after you have your professional experience you would talk about your education and any technical skills that you would have at the bottom of the second page. So, that's how you write a creative resume."
