"Hi, I'm Gretchen Rivas with Relax To The Max Massage Therapy, and today we're going to be talking about, massaging with stones. When you're working with hot stones, you do want to work with them where they're warm and comfortable, but not too hot that they burn your client. You oil your stones up, and then work with them on the back. As they cool off, you can flip them over, so the warm side stays against the client. You want to work all the area of the back, and when you're working around the bony areas you don't want to work directly on the bone, you want to be careful about that when you're going up and down each side of the spine that you're on muscle and not on bone, when I'm working on the shoulder blades here, that I'm not on the bone, here I'm just on the muscular part of it, so be careful about that. You can go across, and back and forth like this if you wish, and you can use the hot stones on any part of the body where it's muscular and not too bony. And this is really good for relaxing the muscle tissue at a deeper level, and it feels nice, especially when it's colder outside, and people are stiff and achy, the hot stones really help them relax, and it feels really good. And then as the stones cool off, you want to switch them out for a another warm set, and then keep on going. You can get your stones from a magazine, Bed Bath and Beyond, or just about anywhere. Different stones will do different things, and hold the heat in different ways. So have fun with your hot stones, and that is how you give a hot stone massage."
