You have got a curiosity about acupressure points and where they are located. Hi my name is Mark Brinson, doctor of oriental medicine, physical medicine specialist and human performance specialist. Acupressure points as you can see from the charts I have here are located all over the body. Acupressure and acupuncture points are exactly the same thing. Now depending on where the location is depends on how effective and how important the point is. As you see there is many many points that are all over the torso both front and back but believe it or not these aren't quite as important as the points that are getting out further towards the wrist and the hand and the lower leg, ankle, and foot. All of these what they call distal points are more important and actually more effective so when you are seeing different treatments in different books or when you receive a treatment from an acupressure or an acupuncture physician you may find that they are using points that are very distant from the sites that are actually involved with your pain or with your medical problem. These points not only are more effective but they are much much more powerful and easier to access the energy of the body through them. Now location is quite important on all of these points as well so if you are ever just looking at a chart you will probably just want to find some resource or some book that is going to back up exactly where it is located. Location is extremely important within probably a centimeter, up down, left or right of the point that you are trying to find.
