Hi. This is Yolanda Vanveen from Vanveenbulbs.com. Right now we are going to learn all about gardening for profit. I've made my whole life out of gardening for profit. I quit my real job eighteen years ago and started my own business selling flower bulbs. It's something that I really, really enjoy. It's a hobby that can turn into a career, but don't quit your day job just quite so quickly. It's a job or it's something that you can do on the side. Start small and work your way up. I found if you've got the area you don't even need a large lot. You can have a small city lot, even an apartment, just even a patio. You just plant; whether you're into flower bulbs or succulent or vegetables or any other type of plants. You could be into house plants, or talansias or orchids; whatever your fancy is. Grow what you love and the money will come. When you garden for profit it's so easy to do. It's so simple. Just, as your plants multiply you take the divisions and you sell them. Whether you go on the internet or do it on Craigslist or Ebay or you can even go to farmers markets if you have them in your area. It's so easy to do. Farmer's markets are the way to go. They are only a little bit of money and you can make a lot in the end. So, plant whatever you can. Whenever you have extras. Whatever you really enjoy growing and the money will come, but before you quit your real job realize when you're gardening for profit you have to come up with your own health insurance, your own retirement, and your own benefits. So, it is, you can't call in sick your plants need you every day. So, in our family to and a lot of families I'm finding one person works in the garden and one person has a full time job with benefits, because it's hard to make enough to pay for health insurance. So, when you're gardening for profit don't quit your day job just yet. Start slow. Bring some plant to the garden; bring some plants to the garden show, bring some to the farmer's market and before you know it you might make some really good money. Gardening for me is so fulfilling knowing that you're giving plants to other people that are going to appreciate them and you're making the world a better place.
