"Hi. My name is Jessica Claire and I'm a dating coach for New York Dating Coach, and we're here in New York City. In this clip, we're going to talk about how to forget about an ex. We all know this is one of the most difficult things people have to do in their lives but, it's necessary. The first thing you have to do is admit to yourself, and everyone else in your life, that it is definitely over. There's no going back. There's no sleeping with them again. None of these things can be done. So, second thing you do: get rid of everything that you have in your house and your apartment that reminds you of them. This means photos, books, things that were given to you as gifts. All of those things either need to be tossed, burned or put into a big box where you don't get to see them everyday. The third thing: delete their phone number. Unfortunately, you may know their phone number by heart. In which case, in your cell phone, leave their name but change the number itself to your best friend. That way, if you're having a hard time, and you accidentally call them, it's your best friend that answers the phone. Fourth thing you do: join clubs. Join a book club, join a hiking and nature group, join a sports team for casual on the weekends. This way, you're making new friends that don't know your ex. It's hard to spend time with your old friends that are also really good friends with the person you miss. So make new friends. Join new groups of people. Start a new job. Start exercising. The better you feel about yourself, the less likely you are to want to go back to the ex who hurt you so badly. Last but not least, the only thing that can cure and ex pain is time.
