"Hi, I'm Laura from youngwritersworkshops.com and I'm going to talk about how to get a fiction book published. There's a lot of different kinds of fiction. You could be talking about a novel, or a children's book, or a collection of short stories, and so depending on what kind of work it is, it's a little bit different process. Overall it's important to do a lot of research. One of the keys to getting published is research. Read works that are similar to yours, find out who published them, look around, go to the library, go to the bookstores, notice what books catch your eye that are similar to yours and find out a little bit more about those publishers. When you're ready to submit some work, follow the publishers guidelines to the letter. Nobody wants to receive a package that's different than what they asked for, it's a waste of their time and it's a waste of your time to send something that they don't need, and then I think the even more important key than anything else is being willing and persistent to stand up to rejection. We've all heard stories about authors who are, you know, beloved authors who met rejection after rejection, and the key is to not give up. So, put your work together in a way that's professional. Send it out and wait to hear back and be ready to send it out again. Those are some really important steps in getting a fiction book published."
