"Hi, my name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to show you how to send a text message using email. What most people don't realize is that when they receive a text message on their phone, all that they're really getting is an email. Let's go to the computer, and I'm going to show you how to send some. To start I'm going to give you a list of all of the major carriers and their email addresses for SMS which is text messaging. If you have a T-Mobile telephone your email address for text messaging is going to be your phone number including the area code "@tmomail.net". The same goes for Cingular which is now AT&T, just say your phone number including the area code "@cingularme.com". I have here the emails for T-Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Cingular, Sprint, Verizon and Nextel. Let's send an email. By opening up at our email client, and let's say that I have a friend on Sprint that I want to send a text message to by email. It's going to be their phone number "@messaging.sprintpcs.com". Let's start a new mail, and I'm going to type their phone number 5551234567, include that area code, "@messaging.sprintpcs.com". If I was to send this message now, my friend, at this phone number, would receive a text message on their phone with the subject "By email" and the text message of "Hello". My name is Dave Andrews and I've just shown you how to send text messages by email."
