"Hello, welcome, my name is Julio Nutt, I'm a master instructor at the Jim McLean Golf School in Miami Florida. In this clip we're going to talk about, how to chip a golf ball. A chip is a shot where the ball is actually going to fly less than it rolls. So in this shot it's a great example, because I'm going to roll the ball just a few feet, and then I'm going to let it roll to the pin. It's very important as any other golf shot, to hit down on the ball. If you're hitting up on the ball, what's going to happen is, you're going to hit the ball very thin, in the leading edge of the club, you're going to get no spin, basically no spin on the ball and it's going to be very difficult to control the distance. So here, in order for me to improve the probabilities of hitting down on the ball, I'm going to put the ball a little bit back in my stance, also I'm going to lean forward, I'm going to have my head over the ball, or if any, a little bit, just barely a little bit ahead of the ball, so that I have like 60, 70 percent of my weight to my left side. This is going to encourage a descending blow, a descending hit on the golf ball. And the other thing that I want to make sure that I have, is that my body and my weight is going to keep moving forward. Meaning, I'm not going to just hit with my hands and arms, and leave my body still, I'm going to hit the ball and keep moving forward. I'm going to hit a demonstration shot here, we're you see my ball is in the back of my stance, my hands are a little bit ahead, because my weight is 70 percent on my left side, and from here all I'm going to do is a really nice pendulum, back and forward and I'm going to let the ball roll back there to the pin. This is Julio Nutt, at the Jim McLean Golf School."
