"Hello, welcome! My name is Julio Nutt, I'm a master instructor at the Jim McLean Golf School in Miami, Florida. In this clip we're going to talk about how to calculate your handicap. But first of all, what is handicap? Handicap is your standard. What is your average in relation to the par of the course. A player that shoots around eighty is shooting on average eight shots above the par if the course he or she is playing is seventy-two par. But also into calculating the handicap is going to come the difficulty level or slope of the golf course because it's not the same to play eighty average. For example, here at the famous Blue Monster at Doral that's shooting eighty average on the red course which is much shorter and much easier. So it's not your job to actually calculate the handicap because that's what the USGA and major golf bodies are going to do for you but it's very good for you to understand there is, it's an average based on the slope or difficulty of the golf course and that's how your handicaps are calculated. This is Julio Nutt at the Jim McLean Golf School."
