"Hi, my name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to show you how to create a field in Microsoft Access that automatically generates numbers. Let's go to Microsoft Access. Open up Access, and let's open a database. Go to file, click open, and select your database. If you receive this security warning, just click open. Inside of this database we have a single table. Let's right click on that table and go to design view. This brings up the fields that are inside of that table. We want to add one that automatically generates a number. So click in here and let's add a field, let's call it my number, and for the data type select auto number. The auto number data type automatically generates numbers that increment by one. Let's save our changes and close this design view. Open up the table and as you can see, my number has automatically been filled in with numbers one through eleven depending on how many rows are in this table. I'm going to insert a new row and as you can see, the number twelve has been added. Let's insert another row and the number thirteen has been added. It's that easy to create an automatically generating number field. My name is Dave Andrews, and I've just showed you how to create a field in Microsoft Access that automatically generates numbers."
