"This is Rachel with Nutrolution in Miami Beach, Florida. In this clip we're talking about how to understand the food guide pyramid. Now if you're somebody that's savvy about nutrition and has done any research at all you may know or you probably do know about the food guide pyramid. It was introduced over a decade ago and the controversy is that this may not be the best paradigm for healthy eating for those of us who really are looking to get very, very healthy. As a matter of fact, the food guide pyramid was created as a form of public health education. So a way to help people understand a very, very basic understanding of what they should be eating and how to do that. The other thing to keep in mind about the food guide pyramid is that the USDA and other food industries are involved in the creation of the food guide pyramid and therefore I do not recommend the food guide pyramid for the majority of the people that I see. The way that I look at flipping it around is by including vegetables and fruits as the majority of what we eat and making sure we have plenty of proteins and plenty of healthy fats to compliment those and then just a little bit of the grain foods and the high starch foods to help enjoy our food a little bit more. This has been Rachel helping you understand the food guide pyramid with Nutrolution in Miami Beach, Florida."
