"As beauty, perfection is in the eye of the beholder. How to be a perfect husband. This is Doctor Paul, author of Boomer Girls: A Boomer Woman's Guide to Men and Dating and host of Ask Doctor Paul. Now being a perfect husband is in the eye of the beholder. One woman may think a perfect husband is the guy who does the dishes. Another woman may think the perfect husband is the guy who picks up his socks. Now, those are fairly easy things to think about, but what really is involved in being the perfect husband? It's deeper than that. One of the major items happens to be to listen, and I know you've heard this before and the last thing that a man wants to hear, but he hears it all the time, you're not listening. Now why does a woman say that? If you want to be a perfect husband listen to what the woman has to say. But do not, listen carefully now, listen, do not give her the solution. She doesn't want you to give her the solution. It makes her feel that she can't solve her own issues. She just wants you to listen. And you nod and say you know hon, I think you probably can work that out, I have a lot of confidence in you. And that makes her feel good and you're the perfect husband because you're listening without giving some advice. If she wants advice, she can ask Doctor Paul. You do not want to give her advice, that's not your job. Your job is to listen, thereby being the perfect husband. This is Doctor Paul, may your fantasies of today be your realities of tomorrow."
