"Hi my name is Dave Andrews and today I'm going to show you how to use Smiley's in an e-mail. Let's open, go to our computer and we're going to open up our e-mail program. Yours might be in a web browser but mine is actually a program that I run so I'm just going to open that up and we're going to start a new e-mail. Now a Smiley is a very good way to kind of accent the way you are feeling when you type something in an e-mail. You may want to just let them know exactly what your feelings are when you say it. You might say something like hello friend and the most basic smiley that you are going to do is simply hold down the shift button and do a colon, hold down the shift again and then a closed parenthesis. You can do a little more by putting a nose into it by doing a semi colon and a hyphen or dash and then a closed parenthesis. Now as I was saying earlier about how smileys can kind of convey your feelings you can say something like I wish they hadn't done that and then do a colon a dash for a nose and a forward leaning slash that kind of looks a little bit like a frown or you can say something jokingly that could have been mistaken as you actually meaning it like saying you're ugly and then a semi colon instead of a regular colon and a closed parenthesis. Now a semi colon is a wink. You can do a lot more things. A kiss would be something like a colon and a star for a kiss and it could also be something sort of like a blush kind of thing. My name is Dave Andrews and I've just showed you how to use smileys in an e-mail."
