"Hi, welcome everybody. How you all doing? My name is Lars Erik Robinson. I have a company called LarsEr Arts where I create my illustrations and graphic design. How I became involved with graphic design is actually through knowing clients and doing illustrations for them and sometimes they ask me, "can you go ahead and just do the whole lay out for me and include the illustration work with the text". And that's a good way to be able to get involve with graphic design and understand how it works. Graphic design basically is understanding how type works and how to lay-out type in an article forms, how to create logos. Any kind of boxes in which that you see for advertising purposes, that's graphic design. And that's a one way to be able to get into it. You have to also learn how to be able to draw. I don't believe in a lot of graphic designers that don't know how to draw. They still have to know designs, they still have to know how to sketch up something for it to be, to explain what they're going to do. For example if you have a client that, that wants to sell toothpaste for example. Maybe, you have the teeth right here, and the mouth, I mean the nose and here's the toothbrush. If you don't have this kind of close up, close up on that and the product right here, this is a good composition piece because it has a circular motion that has a rectangle on there. Those are two elements that you need to have at all times. You want to create interest. And the mouth smiling is going to keep you around in the page. So it's always about designing and keeping it in there. You have to also understand where you want to put your text. Maybe text will be right there with, you know, that's where the logo, the text will be. So hope that explains you a little more how to be a graphic designer and understand the field of graphic design. Thank you."
