"Hi, my name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to show you understanding cascading updates and deletes in Microsoft Access. Let's begin by opening up a database. Here I have a database in Microsoft Access that has two tables, table one and table two. You configure cascading updates and deletes in the relationships screen. So let's go to database tools and click on relationships. We're going to configure this between table one and table two. So select table one and say, add. And select table two and say, add. As you can see both of these have two fields an ID and a field named field one. Let's just drag ID on top of the other ID to create that relationship. This brings up the edit relationship screen. What we want to do to do cascading updates and deletes is we want to enforce referential integrity. Now to understand cascading updates which we will check by checking here, You need to understand that when you update data in table one, it's going to update the data in table two that refers to ID by this relationship here. The same thing for cascading deletes. If we check this, if we deleted a field in table one it would remove any related fields in table two as well. That is how you understand cascading updates and deletes. My name is Dave Andrews and I've just showed you how to understand cascading updates and deletes in Microsoft Access."
