"Hello, my name is Vic Schumacher with HPE Financial Services. I'm an insurance broker, and today we're going to talk about how to buy home insurance. In order to obtain home insurance you can go to a variety of insurance companies, or you can talk to brokers or you can go online and get price quotations. But all of those different sources are going to ask you several basic questions. They're going to ask you how much insurance do you want, they're going to ask you how long do you want that insurance for, and then it's going to come down to what can you really afford. When you buy home insurance, you want it to cover the replacement of the home, if you have a home valued at seventy-five thousand dollars, you want a seventy-five thousand dollar policy. If your home is four hundred and seventy-five thousand dollars, the same thing applies. The homeowners - or the home insurance policy premium will be determined by what that particular coverage is going to be. So the more expensive the home, the more expensive the policy is going to be. But it beats the alternative of not having the policy in the event something happens. If you have a home or a condominium, you need the insurance to cover its loss.
