"There are many of you women out there that have questions about how to apply eye shadow to your eye. My name is Sylvia Russell. And I'm going to show you how to apply eye shadow to a hooded eye. Now you ask yourself, what is a hooded eye? Well, we have a perfect example here. My model, Carrie, has what is called a hooded eye. It's when the hood, or the lid, of the eye covers the bottom lid. See how here, when she opens her eyes, you can barely see the lower lid. This fatty part covers the lower lid. And so therefore, she has what is called a hooded eye. Now a lot of times when you apply eye shadow to the lower lid, you cannot see the shadow or you don't get the effect that you're trying to achieve. So what I'm going to do is show you how to apply eye shadow so that it's very beautiful, but it also enhances the eye. I always like to use a really light shadow on the entire lid. This helps to open up the area completely. It's also very natural. So what you do is you simply apply very light color to the entire lid. Now remember, if you apply a lot of color to the lower lid, you're really not going to see it, because once she opens her eye, it's going to be hidden by this top layer. So we want to make sure that we keep it light. Okay? So if you want, go ahead and keep it really light. You can also add a little shimmer to the lower lid, because this will also help to open up that area. Adding a little shimmer will help just kind of give it a little glisten and maybe when she closes her eyes or blinks, it'll peek through. Go ahead and open your eye for me.
