"Hi, I'm Michael Burton with michaelburtonfilms.org, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, and we're here talking about using Microsoft Windows. What I want to talk to you about now is how to add or remove programs onto your computer system. Let me start out by saying that Windows XP is a registered trademark of Microsoft, and I am in no way affiliated with Microsoft. To add or remove programs. Well, to add a program, obviously pop in the program disc and follow the on-disk instructions. But there are, there is another way to do this. If you go to the start menu you want to bring up your control menu, so go to the right-hand side; open up your control panel. You'll see the, you'll see the option right here under Network and Inter Internet Connections for Add or Remove Programs. Go ahead and click on that. This brings up your Add or Remove Programs menu. We'll just wait for a sec while the; like I said, this is the list being popula...Okay, this is the list of all the major programs that I have installed on my computer. Now, if I were to remove one of these; as you can see right now, Adobe Flash Player Active X is highlighted, and on the bottom right-hand side of that, bottom right-hand corner of that program it says Remove. If I were to click Remove it would give me a few more prompts to remove this program, and then it would remove it from the system. For example, here's Photoshop. I could choose Photoshop, and on the bottom right-hand corner it says Change or Remove; Change meaning I can install more files, or I can reinstall the program if I would like, or I can remove it entirely. So that's pretty much how you would remove a program. That's the official way to remove it. You can also go into your My Computer folder and remove; in in the Programs folder you can remove them that way by deleting them, but there are files that will be left on your computer, and so the best way is to come into Add or Remove Programs, and that way your system will take care of it completely. Another way to add programs, as opposed to just popping in the disc and adding the program is over here to your left; this button that says Add New Programs. If you click on this it actually gives you the option to click on the button over here that says CD or Floppy, so it depends on where you want to add the program from. If you've already inserted your program disc and you want to do it by CD, go ahead and click on CD or Floppy. If you want to add a program from Microsoft or do Microsoft updates, basically updates and programs from their website, click here on the button that says Windows Updates. That's pretty much it. It's a very simple process. I mean, if you have the CD, go ahead and just pop it in and run the program. But remember, to remove the program or to remove, or to change a program, you want to come over here to the left-hand side where these options are, Change or Remove Programs. Click on this and that's where you're going to want to delete your programs."
