"So you want to soothe that discomfort of a sore throat naturally. My name is Mark Brinson, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Physical Medicine and Human Performance specialist. Maybe I can help you out just a little bit. When you've got a sore throat, it's one of the first signs that there's something going wrong internally in your body and it's one of your body's first defense lines. So you do want to make sure that you're taking care of yourself during that time and just not letting it go. Now soothing the actual sore throat, as you know, there's many over-the-counter products that you can use. Even natural cough drops that are going to help, but there's a limit to how many times that you can take them per day because of some of the products that are getting into your system. Some things that you can do naturally at home however, one of the best is using a warm saltwater gargle. And I say warm, because what that's going to do is, its going to open the pores and allow that salt to naturally get into the system a little bit easier. And that's going to help to kill any bacteria that's back there. As well as, in addition to that, you can use zinc lozenges. Either zinc lozenges or if you make a zinc gargle, as well, can help to significantly soothe that. But also, instead of just soothing, they're treating the actual problem. If you just want the relief from it, if you use a warm tea with honey mix and maybe even a little bit of lemon, can be good to help that as well. My name is Mark Brinson, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Physical Medicine and Human Performance specialist wishing you a happy, healthy and balanced day."
