"Hello, my name is Rebecca Herrick. I'm here at Everything Peaceful, in Wilmington, North Carolina, to discuss what petrissage massage is. Petrissage is a technique used in Swedish massage, which is like a kneading motion. You use the base of your hand and your fingers together, to almost create a pinching, a lifting, a rolling of the tissue, and it's what's often referred to as kneading. It is incorporated throughout Swedish massage, or any real massage, and basically, it's a little bit deeper than effleurage, and it works to milk toxins out of the muscles, increase circulation, pliability, flexibility to the muscles, and it can be used anywhere on the body. It can be used on the back, on the legs, on the arms, anywhere you would want to maybe lift the tissue ,and squeeze it to get toxins out, increasing that circulation, and that's what petrissage massage would be."
