"Hello, my name's Rebecca Herrick. I'm here at Everything Peaceful in Wilmington, North Carolina to explain how ear candles work. This is an ear candle here. It's basically a piece of fabric, that has been rolled up, and coated in a wax of some sort. A common wax that they use is paraffin. And, what happens is, you insert it like this, and then into the person's ear, just in the superficial ear canal. Not anything deep. And, you light the end, away from the ear, on fire, and this creates a suction. And, it pulls any free particles, that may have collected in the ear, ear wax, anything like that. Water that may be stagnant in there. It pulls it up, in a vacuum effect. And pulls out anything that's in the ear that shouldn't be. So, because of that it clears out the ear canal, and opens up for better hearing and function, and balance, and all that kind of stuff associated with the ear. And, that's how ear candles work."
