"Hello, my name's Rebecca Herrick. I'm here to discuss different massage points. There's many different things in massage therapy called points. They're, we'll touch upon three of those. The first one is the trigger point. This is an area of the muscle, that refers pain along a pathway. So, the way you find a trigger point, is through client feedback many times. You try and find the referred pain, which it is called. If it was a trigger point up here in the levator scapulae, they'd be feeling a referred pain pathway, up around their head, into their forehead, which is essentially a tension headache is. And, what you do is, you just manipulate the tissue, until you find the center of that point, or the high point of that dense fibrous tissue, and you hold it for about fifteen seconds, and slowly ease your way off. The second type of point we'll talk about is an acupressure point. And, those are located along the different meridians of the body or the energy channels of the body. And, those are anatomically found along the different pathways. You can tell from an acupressure map of the body or a chart. And basically, you just do circular digital pressure to those points, to ease up blockages in those meridians. Third type of point is called the tender point. And that's just the point that feels tender. It doesn't have a referred pain pathway or anything like that. And you just basically focus on bringing the circulation back to that area of the tissue. And, that's a synopsis of the different types of points in massage therapy."
