"Hello my name is Rebecca Herrick I'm here at everything peaceful in Wilmington North Carolina, to talk about how to give a deep tissue massage. First of all when you are giving a deep tissue massage you want to make sure that your client is at a comfortable distance from your body so that you can get the proper leverage over their body and therefore the proper pressure to get in deep. You want to always warm up the tissues before you start to go really deep so that you don't injure the superficial muscle layers above the tissue that you are targeting. Whenever you are going to start doing the deep tissue, you can use the base of your hands or you can use your forearms and your elbows. This helps to save the pressure on your hands and your thumbs and prevent over use and injuries, things like that. Whenever you are using your forearms you want to make sure not to use the pointy part of your elbow and not to be too pokey to the tissues. You know you are using too much pressure when you feel the client response or tense up in response to the pressure. And you always want to make sure you get proper feed back from your clients as far as your depth. And that's the basic of giving a deep tissue massage."
