"Hello. My name's Rebecca Herrick. I'm a massage therapist at Everything Peaceful in Wilmington, North Carolina. And I'm here to tell you how to become a massage therapist. There is a couple of steps that you need to take in order to decide whether massage therapy's the right career for you. First of all, do you deal well with people? Are you a natural giver, do you, or caretaker? To make sure that you have the right personality it takes socially and emotionally to be a caretaker in a nurse or as a massage therapist is. Another thing to think about is what area of massage therapy you might want to go into. There's many different avenues. Which is one reason why it's such a great career. You can do many many different things with that, with that career. In order to get certified or licensed, you really need to check with the area in which you want to practice. Because the laws vary from state to state and from county to county, from city to city, it's very specific to where you want to actually practice. So there, your best bet there is to contact a local massage therapist in the area where you want to practice and get some information from them. They can give you advice on what, what a career in massage therapy can offer you in that location. Another thing to consider is also the rigorousness of schooling. It's a lot of medical, it's a lot of learning about the human body and how it works, which is a positive thing if you're a science person or if you're interested in learning about how your own body works. But it can also be a mis, misnomer that it's going to be an easy thing to do. So, another reason why contacting a local massage therapist in your area will really help you to become, to make the right choice as far as becoming a massage therapist goes. And that is my advice on how to become a massage therapist."
