"Okay, whoo hoo, you're pregnant, very exciting. Well now what? You've got a lot of choices to make. I'm Dr. Jill from Tampa, Florida, here to tell you how to choose a delivery option. Well, what does that mean? Well, you've got a couple of choices here. Do you want an obstetrician or do you want a midwife. Do you want to deliver at home? or do you want to be in the hospital. I, of course, being the obstetrician have certain preferences, but I'm going to give you all the options. Both, midwives as long as they're certified, and obstetricians, you would like to look for a board certified obstetrician or safe in caring for you during your pregnancy. Once you've made the decision on who to go to, then you have to decide where to go. Most OB GYN's deliver babies in the hospital and that is what I recommend, but if you do choose a midwife, make sure she's certified and make sure she delivers in a hospital. Home births can be safe. They actually happen on a freeway. I've delivered one in a parking lot. You'd also prefer to make sure you're in a place where you can be the safest. All of these options are good, and it's a personal preference so do what you feel most comfortable with and remember, if you change into a high risk pregnancy, being at a home birth or even with a midwife, at times, is not so good. So, talk to your health care professionals, and if they're really good, then they'll make the good recommendations for you. I'm Dr. Jill talking to you about how to choose a delivery option. Have a very safe pregnancy."
