How to Wear a Seat Belt During Pregnancy

"Everybody gets in a car at some point in your life. I'm Dr. Jill, from Tampa, Florida, here to tell you, how to wear a seat belt, in pregnancy. First of all, everyone, pregnant or not, should wear their seat belt, and in some states, it's the law. In pregnancy though, with your burgeoning belly, it gets a little confusing, on how to put that seat belt on. The most important thing is, in the first trimester, put it on as normal. As your belly is getting a little bit bigger, you want to make sure that the shoulder strap goes under your breast, and across the top of your tummy, and the lap belt, goes underneath your belly. It is critical to wear a seat belt in pregnancy. Motor vehicle accidents occur when you're pregnant, and they're the most dangerous, if you have a direct trauma to your abdomen. It can be dangerous, if you're going at high speeds too, but the actual hitting of your belly against the steering wheel, can make things a lot worse, so make sure you buckle up, and do it properly.
