"The heart of Leu Gardens in Orlando, Florida is the Leu House Museum. Harry Leu was a successful wealthy businessman in Orlando in the early to mid nineteen hundreds. He and his wife traveled all over the world, bringing back several exotic plants and some two hundred and forty varieties of camellias for their gardens. The Leus traveled extensively but always loved coming back to their home and gardens. Mister Leu was fascinated with nature and beautifying the city of Orlando. Locally, he was known as Johnny Appleseed, because he gave so many beautiful plants away to neighbors and friends. Eventually, the Leus donated their home and gardens to the city of Orlando, they actually deeded the property with the stipulation that it would always remain a botanical garden, non-profit, and used for the enjoyment and education of everyone. Guided tours to the museum are always available."
