"Hi I'm Linda Wooldridge and I'm a home school mom. I've been home schooling since 1998 and I have tried more home schedules for my home school day than you can shake a stick at. But here is the bottom line that I have found over the last ten years. The first thing you look at is what is your schedule like? Do you need to get up and tidy the house? Can you get right into your school day? How many children do you have to get moving? If you have several children you may find it easier to stagger your start times for your kids. Whoever usually gets done first go ahead and schedule them for some one on one time with you while the others are getting dressed and having their breakfast. You might want to take a little time to get your house straightened up. I know it is not going to be straight at the end of the day but at least you know it started that way and you can always schedule another tidy time for the end of the day. Also when you are looking at scheduling your day think about which subjects you need to take in which order. For us morning is our best home scheduling time and we usually try to get math and science out of the way first. Those are my daughter's favorite subjects so she likes to get those done and that gets a good start to her day. Then we tackle the things she doesn't like as well but it's up to you. Some people like to get the most difficult subject out of the way first. Make sure you write down everything that you have accomplished in your day and don't forget about those unusual things like if you play a game or if you go to the doctor. We had a whole unit study on head lice once but I won't go into that. In any event make sure that you plan your day according to what works for your family flow and don't be afraid to take a day off if it's just not working for you. I mean teachers have sick days and you can take one too. I'm Linda Wooldridge. Have a great home schooling day."
