"Hi, I'm Linda Wooldridge. I'm a home school Mom. I've been home schooling for the last ten years and in all honesty one of the hardest subjects for me to teach was foreign language. I mean after all I was trying to remember something. That I hadn't been taught in the last thirty years. So what's a home schooling Mom to do? My child needs foreign language in order to graduate. You might get lucky enough to find a COOP class or a tutor in your area and if you can afford it. That's a great option but I didn't know of anybody at the time and we still needed a foreign language. So what I did was I found an on-line class. That my son could take. It wasn't a great alternative but it worked well enough. Until I found out that the community college. Had a foreign language class and he took that. Now it was a college level class and because it was college level. It did assume that he had two years of foreign language prior to going in there and he had to work pretty hard. Just to get that C. So I'm doing things a little differently for my daughter now. I have found an on-line virtual high school. That teaches foreign language and she's getting a great foreign language education. For that matter so am I. So if you don't feel qualified to teach a foreign language. Do some Internet research. Find out what options you have and ask your other home schooling friends. Maybe they know somebody. Who's from another country. Who can teach the foreign language to your child. Oh, and don't forget about sign language. Some colleges will accept that as a foreign language credit. So it might be an option that'll work for you. I'm Linda Wooldridge. Have a great home schooling day!"
