"Hi I'm Linda Wooldridge and I'm a home school mom. I have been home schooling for over 10 years. I have a son in college and a daughter who is in high school so here I go again with all those high school traditions like the prom. What does a home schooler do about the prom? Well if you don't have a home school support group that already has a prom and I'm lucky enough to have one of those then you might be the one to step forward and create one. Find a church hall, invite the kids, give them a chance to get dressed up, have a couple of parents chaperon, that certainly won't be a problem and get some sort of music. It is really quite simple but if you are not willing to take on that responsibility then this is a good time for your high schooler to introduce him or herself to other high schoolers in the community. If they have friends at church maybe they can find a way to get invited to that school's prom. You know there is more than one way to do this and while your high schooler's lives won't end if they don't go to prom it sure is fun to get to have some of the same traditions as their parents so here is a thought. If you don't want to design your own prom and there is not already one available to you, get your child out there and ask them if they would be willing to invite themselves to somebody else's prom. No matter how they do it, it is all the same. I'm Linda Wooldridge, have a great home schooling day."
