"Hi, I'm Linda Wooldridge. I'm a home school mom. I've been homeschooling for over ten years. One of the questions I hear a lot from friends of mine who don't home school, is what do you do about extracurricular activities especially when your student gets older, and they would be taking things like band or playing in high school sports. Well, those things are still available to us. Sometimes, as it is here in Florida, you can use your high school and participate in those things or we also have the option of having our student participate in the community college sports program, but what if you have a younger student or you don't have that option. Take a look at community teams. Those are a great opportunity for sports. Also, look around to see if you have any youth bands or community music organizations. Even a chorus is a great opportunity, and don't forget about things like dance schools, or drama schools or even art programs . Your county recreation programs. There are so many opportunities out there for your home schooler. There's no reason to stay home by yourself when there's so much fun to be had. So, get hooked in. Find a support group. Get hooked into what's going on in your community and sign up for things. Get out. Have some fun. I'm Linda Wooldridge. Have a great homeschooling day."
