"I'm Linda Wooldridge, I'm a home school mom and I've been home schooling since 1998. Needless to say we have been on a lot of field trips. We love to get out of the house so how do we plan those field trips. First of all find out if there is a home school support group in your area or any other sort of organization that plans and designs their own field trips. If they do that that is easy, just sign up and join them, you don't have to do any of the work but if you don't have the opportunity there are lots of opportunities out there for you anyway. Don't forget about your museums, your zoos, any other types of destination points in your area. Some of them may even have special days for home schoolers. Also check out your theater and your orchestra. If they have special days for field trips you might be able to join in. In our area, in Florida local theaters bring in school shows and we can go for $5 a ticket. It's a great way to see some live theater. Also be on the look out for and get hooked into e-mail support groups because you'll receive notices on all kinds of school opportunities that you can participate in and you might even want to consider having your child join some sort of service organization such as girl scouts or boy scouts because there might be some special opportunities available to them that way. Once you go on the trip if you are going just as you all you have to do is pay your money, figure out what you are going to need for extra expenses such as lunch, get in your car and go, that's it just get in your home school bus and head out on a great adventure. Don't forget to have your kids write a paper about what they did when they get home. They'll love you for it. I'm Linda Wooldridge, have a great home school day."
