"Hi I'm Linda Wooldridge and I'm a homeschool mom. I've been homeschooling since 1998. I have one son in college and our daughter is still at home. So how did I get our son into college, what do you have to do to take your student from highschooler to college? The truth of the matter is the only different between public school and homeschool is that you are now the guidance counselor. You are going to have to do the research necessary to get your student into school but it is really not that difficult. The main thing that I can tell you if I had it to do over again I would have started a lot earlier. I would have started doing research on the school in eighth or ninth grade. Make sure that you know what college requirements are. Make sure that you find out about the SAT or the ACT and get those tests taken. After all unless you are working with an accredited school system, your student's GPA is not going to be accredited. Make sure that you do design and build a transcript for your student because they will need one, whatever path they choose to follow and if your student wants to major in a specific topic or go to a specific school by absolutely certain that you check early to find out what their interest requirements are. We found out after the fact that my son had not taken enough Spanish in high school and now four years after he has taken the Spanish in high school he has got to take Spanish again since he doesn't remember any of it. Boy that is something I wish I had a do over on. So the bottom line is start at the beginning of high school, not the end, build your transcript and it is not that hard to get your student into college. I'm Linda Wooldridge, have a great homeschooling day."
